Erica “ET” Taylor spent years getting a master’s degree and instructing video production, mainly for sports. She’s a video producer who shoots and edits on her iPhone. Most recently, she shot a short film, Coming Home and it made it into the Rookie Award category in San Diego’s International Mobile Film Festival.
Episode 148 is a conversation about ET’s filmmaking experience, video production business and her coming to San Diego with the film’s protagonist, Shellsy Malveaux and Carla Lyles.
Shellsy and Carla share a message to the filmmakers who could not attend and those who could attend the festival.

Ten years old making movies and winning awards, inspired by her award winning filmmaker Dad Ryan McDonald, Sophia McDonald writes, directs and stars in her short film The Sister Sister Jinx shot with an iPhone.
Episode 147 is Sophia’s podcast debut. The film is roughly 2 and half minutes long and was a family project with the participation of Dad, sister Alyssa as her co-star. There is even an appearance by Leo the Cat.
Ryan and Sophia share how they made this film and how the film helped them bond. Sophia wrote the screenplay, and directed the film. The film was edited using Final Cut Pro, where Sophia had the final editing decisions.
Ryan and Brandie McDonald made a feature film, Married and Loving It which was in our film festival in 2020. You can listen to them in episode 131.
This is a very unique episode, I don’t usually bring kids this young into our podcast. The discussion is very inspiring and will probably have you smiling.

A Career in Television Inspired Filmmaking with Monique Gall

Monique Lea-Gall has earned many television credits as an actor. Her journey as a dancer on TV Awards shows with celebrities like Will Smith, Gwen Stefani, Diddi, and many more, moved into television shows like Law & Order, American Horror Story and currently on SWAT. She’s also worked on feature films.
Monique and her husband Rome Gall produced a short film, Me vs Me which screened at this year’s International Mobile Film Festival in San Diego April 29. Rome also played one of the main characters in the film. Rome is an actor and comedian who does commercial work, and shares how they met.
Monique talks about her film and how her journey brought her from a professional career in television and film, to make her own films. She made her short mobile film Me vs Me which she wrote and performed in as the protagonist in the story. Monique shares many insights for actors.
Me vs Me Synopsis: A woman's negative conscience forces her to face her own demons.
The film was shot with an iPhone 13 in Los Angeles by director and cinematographer Grant Cotter. It was Grant who inspired her to use the iPhone as the camera.
Key Cast for the film: Monique Gall, Gloria Allen, Rome Gall, Fernando Bernal, Tamor Lewis.
Monique speaks about how much she learned during the IMFF in San Diego in the workshop led by Levi Austin Morris and his team. She may shoot her next feature currently in the works with a smartphone, inspired by her experience at the festival.
